What: You Be The Chemist Challenge is a middle school
competition and program that celebrates and elevates the science of
chemistry to inspire on-going study and careers.
When: Wednesday, March 9, 2020 6pm
Where: Elgin High School; 1200 Maroon Drive, Elgin, IL 60120
Along with Polynt Composites USA and CPCA, CSCT serves as one of the sponsors for Kane County's You Be The Chemist Challenge
As a sponsor, they are reaching out to the CSCT for volunteers to assist with the following:
***If you interested in being the MC or the Keynote Speaker for this event, please let Kathy Fisher know by February 1.***
Scoring Table (Tina Tomschin + 2 volunteers)
Stage setup and take down (4 volunteers)
Registration (2 volunteers)
Food and drink pickup (1 volunteer)
Food and drink setup and serving (3 volunteers)
Ushering guests, parents and students (2 volunteers)
Proctoring the competition (2 volunteers)
Set up pop-up displays showcasing Polynt (see Matt Hayden for which displays to use)
If you can help, please let Kathy Fisher as soon as possible so she can begin assigning responsibilities.
For your efforts, you’ll be rewarded with a tremendous sense of pride because you
will have helped numerous students in our area further their interest in chemistry.
You’ll also get a free dinner!

- MC: This person will be on stage for the event. Tasks will include introducing the students to the audience, reading the questions out loud for the students during the competition, and keep the audience and students engaged between rounds while the judges update scoring during the competition.
- Keynote Speaker: This person will speak about their experiences in the chemical industry. This speech/presentation should run 5-10 minutes.
